← Junior Basketball Bundesliga 2016/17

The 2017/18 season was the twelfth season of the youth basketball league .

During the main round, a total of 34 teams, which were divided into four regional divisions, initially played against each other in a league operation with a return match. The main round was played from October 8, 2017 to March 11, 2018. The four best-placed clubs in each main round qualify for the play-offs and have automatically acquired the right to participate in the following season . The teams in places 5 to 8 in each round competed in the play-downs and played for relegation. Both play-offs and play-downs were played in the best of three mode . The four losing teams in the play-downs and the ninth-placed teams in the main rounds 1 and 3 had to qualify again for the following season. The four winning teams of the play-offs competed in a final tournament, the winner of which is German champions.

FC Bayern Munich started the season as the reigning German champions . Alba Berlin became champion for the first time since 2014 and for the third time .

The All-Star-Game took place on January 13, 2018 before the BBL All-Star Game in the Lokhalle Göttingen . The North ALLSTARS were able to prevail against the South selection with 88:79 (23:15, 13:11, 28:22, 24:31), only the third victory (with 8 defeats) for the North. For Most Valuable Player of the All-Star Games of Berlin was Hendrik Drescher named.
