End of season in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic
The NBBL's gaming operations were endangered by the COVID-19 pandemic , which has also been rampant in Germany since January 2020 (see COVID-19 pandemic in Germany ). As a safety measure, it was initially decided on March 12, 2020 to interrupt the season. At this point the main rounds A and B had already been played. The end of the season was finally announced on March 25th. Since the main rounds had already been played, the promoted and relegated teams for the 2018/19 season had already been decided. However, there were no relegated teams from the main round B, who would have had to qualify again for the following season. This season, for the first time in the history of the league, no champions were crowned.
