No Name City (Poing)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No Name City (NNC) was a nationally known German western park in Poing near Munich . The western town was founded in 1987 by Wilhelm E. Pichler in collaboration with the collector Heinz Bründl ( Bründl Collection ) and existed until 1997.

history

The founding idea arose in 1984/85 as part of a meeting of the European western clubs in Ising (Chieming) , when it came to the further use of the backdrop built there. With the support of interested sponsors, the western town was created due to the positive response from the population in Poing. The architectural office Peter Richter and Ulrich Freund (RFHT) was involved in the architectural planning . A total of around 40 buildings were built, many of which are true to the original. Buildings, costumes and furnishings were true to the original according to the time around 1880.

Shows such as " Billy the Kid " were performed in the western town with its original backdrop . Well-known actors were Tommy Krappweis (including stuntman ) and Silkirtis Nichols (actor from 1988 to 1994) alias "Buffalo Child". Peter Bento jun. (1941–2008), son of the circus Adolf Althoff clown actor Peter Bento-Storms (1923–2013), played the role of deputy sheriff “Rattlesnake Joe”. Willy Michl was one of the regular guests. The country house band was called The No Name City Gamblers . The area served several times as a backdrop for film and advertising shoots. Among other things, the video for Mike Krüger's song Mama ist im Himmel bei John Wayne (1994) was created here. The attractions also included events such as the hosting of a " German championship in gold panning ." On the site, payments were made with a kind of " regional currency ", so-called nugget notes, which were used as food receipts . In addition to banknotes, so-called " coins " with the character of medals were also minted.

In 1995 No Name City was closed due to a lack of visitors.

Post-historical

The former site at Gruber Strasse 60 a north of the S-Bahn tracks was built over with an industrial area. Backdrops and buildings were moved to the No Name City theme park in Austria .

Memoirs by Bründl and Krappweis

In 2013, Bründl and Krappweis wrote their memories of the western town in the form of a paperback. The book was created on the basis of a conversation that lasted several days and was recorded with cameras. Andreas Kurtz described the book in the Berliner Zeitung as an "extremely amusing-anecdotal [s] book" .
