Noah Lindsey Beery (born August 10, 1913 in New York City , New York - † November 1, 1994 in Tehachapi , California ) was an American film and television actor . He played in over 100 film and television productions and was an actor for over 65 years.

Life

At the age of seven, he played a small role alongside his father Noah Beery in the silent film The Mark of Zorro . In addition to his father, he was often seen on screen with his uncle Wallace Beery in his youth. He became a frequently booked supporting actor in western films in the 1930s and 1940s.

With increasing interest in television productions, Noah became a sought-after series actor, who was seen, for example, in the popular series Corky and the Circus (Circus Boy) and in Smoking Colts (Gunsmoke) . His star role, however, is the character of Joseph “Rocky” Rockford, father of Detective Rockford ( James Garner ), in the series Detective Rockford - a call is enough from the 1970s. For this role he received two Emmy nominations.

In 1985, his poor health led to the fact that he had to give up his profession as an actor. He had one of his last appearances in the episode Dark Past of the crime series Murder Is Her Hobby . Noah Beery junior died at the age of 81 of complications from a thrombosis in the brain. He had three children from his first marriage to actress Maxine Jones and his second wife Lisa.
