The Noahs Ark was an unfinished cruise ship that was originally intended to serve as a ferry for Laconias Shipping . After the shipping company went bankrupt, however, work stalled for the next eight years. In 1987, the conversion work to the cruise ship began, but was never completed. After several changes of ownership and renaming, the Noahs Ark was scrapped in 2004 in Aliağa, Turkey .

history

The Noahs Ark was ordered as the Taygetos ferry by the Greek shipping company Laconias Shipping and built in the Perama Shipyard in Perama . In 1979 the ship was launched, but never completed because Laconias Shipping had to file for bankruptcy. Instead, the unfinished ship was in the shipyard launched and offered for sale.

In 1987 Sea Venture Cruises bought the Taygetos to have them converted into a cruise ship. However, due to the bankruptcy of Sea Venture Cruises, the shell was not completed, but instead offered for sale again. In the meantime, the ship was sold to a shipowner based in Kingstown and registered there under the name Noahs Ark . Nevertheless, the construction work on the ship was not continued.

In November 2003 Noahs Ark was towed to Eleusis to hang up . There she was near the also unfinished cruise ship Regent Sky , which was originally supposed to come into service for Regency Cruises .

In autumn 2004, Noahs Ark was sold for scrapping in Aliağa, Turkey, where it arrived on September 13, 2004. The larger Regent Sky remained in Eleusis for another seven years until it was also scrapped in Aliağa.
