Norbert Heinen (Manager)

Norbert Heinen (born October 5, 1954 in Haan ; † April 8, 2019 ) was a German manager . He was chairman of the board of directors of Württembergische Versicherung AG and Württembergische Lebensversicherung AG .

Life

From 1973 to 1978, Norbert Heinen studied mathematics with a minor in physics at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . After completing his studies, he initially worked for two years as a research assistant at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Münster, until he switched to the insurance industry in 1980 .

In 1980, Heinen joined the Gerling Group Lebensversicherung AG , where he worked in the actuarial department. He became an authorized signatory in 1986 and in 1990 received general power of attorney for the company pension scheme . In 1993 he became the general representative of the Gerling Holding for strategic planning and corporate development, 1995 managing director of the Gerling Service-Gesellschaft für IT, 1996 member of the board of the Gerling-group life insurance AG and 1998 member of the board of the Gerling company and private service AG. From 2002 he was a member of the board of directors of Gerling-Holding and chairman of the board of directors of Gerling-Konzern Lebensversicherung AG and Gerling Versicherungs-Beteiligungs-AG and, from 2003, also Chief Information Officer of the Gerling group. In 2004 he was appointed CEO of Gerling Vertrieb Firmen und Privat AG.

In 2007, Norbert Heinen moved to B&W Deloitte GmbH in Cologne as managing director and partner . From 2010 to 2018 he was Chairman of the Management Board of Württembergische Versicherung and Württembergische Lebensversicherung.

Since 1995 he has also served as a board member of the German Actuarial Association (DAV) and was its chairman from 2005 to 2007. Since 2016 he has been a member of the supervisory board of the church supplementary pension fund of the Association of Dioceses of Germany (KZVK) .

Norbert Heinen was hit by a drunk driver on a bicycle tour on April 7, 2019 in Troisdorf and seriously injured. He died in hospital a day later as a result of his injuries. His wife was also seriously injured.
