Norbert Kerkel

Norbert Kerkel (born May 8, 1941 in Tegernsee ; † June 12, 2008 in Munich ) was a German local politician . From 1987 to 2008 he was district administrator of the Upper Bavarian district of Miesbach .

The non-party Kerkel had been active in local politics since 1978, initially as a member of the municipal council, and from 1984 as mayor of his home town Waakirchen . On April 13, 1987 he took over the office of the district administrator of the district of Miesbach. During his more than 20-year term of office, numerous structural measures to improve the infrastructure fall, such as the construction of the secondary school in Holzkirchen and the new construction of the district hospital in Agatharied . He was one of the initiators of the founding of the Bavarian Oberland Tourism Association and for many years a member of the state committee of the Bavarian District Association .

After Kerkel had not run in the local elections in March 2008, he had to hand over the business to his deputy in April 2008 shortly before the end of his term of office because of cancer . Two months later he succumbed to his illness.
