Norbert Pawlik (born August 24, 1932 , † September 30, 1997 ) was a judge at the Frankfurt am Main district court .

Life

Norbert Pawlik was the son of a district judge who later became vice-president of the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court . He studied eight semesters of Law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , was three years in the courts in Usingen and Bad Vilbel judge on probation and in Offenbach traffic criminal judge . The decisions made by him as an investigative judge received some supraregional attention.

In 1962, together with his fellow judges from Frankfurt Neutsch and Weil, he decided that the fee-based warnings received from the police were unconstitutional.

The apartheid regime of Ian Smith had in 1966 and Giesecke & Devrient banknotes for Rhodesia it printed. Pawlik declined to confirm a seizure order for 2.2 tons of Rhodesian pounds hot off the press and granted clearance. In his view, German judges are not entitled to rule on issues of international law such as the legality of foreign governments.

On 18 October 1967 he appeared at the Frankfurt Book Fair and let the Brown Book of Albert Norden seize. He had previously applied to the responsible public prosecutor to confiscate the illegally imported book. After no reaction, he issued a seizure order himself, citing Section 165 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (“Danger in Default”).

In 1967, Pawlik had two pages from the November edition of the English-language Playboy and all pages from the KPD program confiscated.

In 1971 he issued 56 arrest warrants based on recorded telephone conversations , which had been issued by the Eurogang Special Commission . The name Eurogang was processed into a crime title in the mid-1970s.
