The North-South Railway of Iran connecting Sarakhs , one of the three Iranian border stations to Turkmenistan , with the port of Bandar Abbas on the Persian Gulf .
Geographical location
The route opens up beyond Turkmenistan to the Iranian rail traffic Uzbekistan , Kazakhstan , Russia and China . It crosses the country in its eastern half, while the Trans-Iranian Railway, which went into operation at the end of the 1930s, provides the connection between Turkmenistan and the Persian Gulf in the western half of the country. The combination of the Sarachs – Fariman section with the Garmsar – Mashhad railway resulted in a new east-west connection between China and Europe .

- Sarachs – Fariman 1996
- Fariman – Tschoqart 2005
- Tschoqart– Bafq 1979/1982
- Bafq – Bandar-e Abbas – Shahid Bahonar Ahbari 1990–1995
