On a small section in the area of the city of Norden , the low is also called Galgenief. The deep Norder led to 1991 when Leybuchtsiel in the Leybucht .

The Norder Tief takes on numerous drainage ditches. It is of central importance for the drainage of the neighboring communities. Since 1991, however, the Leybuchtsiel, built in 1929, has not been drained any more. Rather, during the construction of the Leyhörn headland near Greetsiel, the Störtebek Canal was created as a connection from the Leybuchtsiel to the Leyhörn, so that water is drained through it. At the Leybuchtsiel, drainage was only possible at low tide.
