Cyclone season in the North Indian

In contrast to other areas where tropical cyclones develop , such as the Pacific hurricane season , the cyclone season in the North Indian Ocean is not limited in time, but all year round. However, cyclones occur in the north of the Indic mainly before and after the summer monsoon , in May and June and in October and November. The responsible Regional Specialized Meteorological Center , the India Meteorological Department (IMD), counts all storms that form between 45th and 100th degrees east. In this basin, the cyclones arise either east of the Indian subcontinent in the Bay of Bengal and in the Arabian Sea to the west .

The low coastal areas in East India , Bangladesh and Myanmar in particular are endangered by strong waves that can occasionally accumulate over 10 m. However, the flooding caused by precipitation is also a danger.

The 1998 season was one of the busiest seasons on record , along with 1987 , 1996 and 2005 , with the formation of eleven tropical depressions, eight of which developed into tropical cyclones.
