Tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean usually form between the beginning of June and the end of November, which is why the National Hurricane Center (NHC) sets the duration of the Atlantic hurricane season to be from June 1st to November 30th. The NHC is the Regional Specialized Meteorological Center (RSMC) established by the World Meteorological Organization .

The following lists of the Atlantic hurricane seasons provide an overview of hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean since the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus ; there are no previous records of hurricanes.
