Norske Løve (ship, 1735)

The Norske Løve was a two-decker - Battleship third rank with 70 cannons of the Danish-Norwegian Navy. The ship was named after the Norwegian national coat of arms , the Norwegian lion . From 1634 to 1798 there were six ships of this name in the Danish-Norwegian Navy.

The ship was built by master shipbuilder KN Benstrup at the Nyholm shipyard (now part of the Christianshavn district of Copenhagen ). It was laid down in 1734 and launched on February 9, 1735. The three- masted ship was 52 m long and 14 m wide in the keel. The mizzen mast was rigged with a latin sail . The armament consisted of a total of 70 guns , 26 each on the two battery decks , the rest in the bow and stern forts . The full crew strength was about 550 men.

The ship was mostly on watch duty in Øresund and other Danish waters, sailed with the fleet during their summer maneuvers, and was retired in 1764.
