Hans Wyer

Hans Wyer (born January 7, 1927 in Visp ; † January 30, 2012 there ; entitled to live there ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

Hans Wyer was until 1976 Mayor of Visp. He belonged from 1967 to 1977 the National Council of which he as in his last year in office (1976-77) President board. From 1973 to 1984 Wyer was President of CVP Switzerland. From 1977 to 1993 he was State Councilor for the Canton of Valais ; he first headed the finance department, then the military and finally the energy department.

Wyer later published several books on the use of hydropower . Wyer died of a stroke at the age of 85 .
