Ettore Tenchio

Ettore Giovanni Michele Tenchio (born October 21, 1915 in Roveredo ; † April 27, 2015 in Chur ; entitled to live in Verdabbio ) was a Swiss politician ( Conservative-Christian-Social People's Party ).

Life

Tenchio graduated in 1934 at the Collegio Papio in Ascona the Matura and then studied in Milan , Friborg and Bern law , which he in 1938 a doctorate . From 1940 to 1950 he worked as a lawyer in Roveredo and from 1960 in Chur .

From 1943 to 1950 Tenchio sat in the Grisons Grand Council , and from 1950 to 1959 he served on the government council , where he was head of the Justice and Police Department of Graubünden. From 1947 to 1971 he was a national councilor and president of various commissions and from 1960 to 1963 a member of the parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe . Tenchio was defeated in the 1962 Federal Council election as the official candidate of his party to Roger Bonvin from Valais . From 1948 to 1950 he was President of the Christian Social Party Group in Graubünden, from 1960 to 1968 he was President of the Conservative Christian Social People's Party of Switzerland, today's CVP . He was also President of the Corpus Catholicum from 1969 to 1984 .

Tenchio was president of the Graubünden tourist office from 1960 to 1976 and campaigned for the maintenance and tariffs of the Rhaetian Railway and the expansion of the San Bernardino route as a national road. From 1971 to 1980 he was Central President of SRG and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banca della Svizzera Italiana , Transitgas AG and Oleodotto del Reno SA. He was also a colonel on the general staff of the Swiss Army . In 1975 he was made an honorary citizen of Santa Domenica .
