Emil Nietlispach (born February 20, 1887 in Beinwil , † July 22, 1962 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss politician ( Conservative People's Party ) and federal judge .

biography

Jakob Nietlispach's son attended high school in Schwyz . He then studied law at the universities of Bern , Berlin and Paris . Nietlispach was a member of the Swiss Student Association . He completed his studies with a doctorate from the University of Bern. He then worked as a court clerk in Lenzburg before opening his own law firm in Wohlen in 1915 .

From 1916 to 1942 Nietlispach was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau , which he presided over in 1921/22. From 1922 to 1942 he was also a national councilor ; 1940/41 he was President of the National Council , 1940–1942 President of the Catholic Conservative Fraction and President of the National Council's Powers Commission, which was important during the Second World War. From 1935 to 1940 he presided over the Conservative People's Party. In this function he also voted at the meeting on August 28, 1939 to elect the general and grant the Federal Council the power of attorney.

From 1942 to 1959 he was a judge at the Federal Insurance Court , 1950/51 and 1958/59 President of the Insurance Court.

Nietlispach is considered to be the initiator of the Catholic farmers' union, in 1924 he was a co-founder of the Freiämter Bauernbund in Muri (AG). In 1925 he was a co-founder of the Aargau Catholic Farmers' Union. Nietlispach also campaigned for people's rights, for a reform and rationalization of parliamentary operations, and for healthy federal finances.
