Pierre Aeby (born May 6, 1884 in Friborg ; † February 4, 1957 there , entitled to live in Friborg) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

Pierre Aeby was born on May 6, 1884 in Freiburg, the son of the conservative politician and banker Paul Aeby . Aeby began studying law at the universities of Freiburg , Bonn , Berlin and Paris, which he completed in 1910 with the academic degree of Dr. iur. completed. A year later he was admitted to the bar .

As a result, Aeby taught civil and commercial law at the University of Freiburg from 1911 to 1952 , where he was rector between 1939 and 1940. To this end, he has been the director of the Higher Girls' Trade School since 1918. Pierre Aeby appeared as the author of numerous legal works and studies.

The unmarried Pierre Aeby died on February 4, 1957, three months before his 73rd birthday in Freiburg. He was a nephew of the politician Georges Python .

The conservative politician Pierre Aeby served as Freiburg's mayor from 1922 to 1938 . He was also represented in the National Council from 1931 to 1947 , which he chaired from December 4, 1944 to December 3, 1945. He also served as president of the CVP's ​​predecessor party between 1940 and 1946, namely the Swiss Conservative People's Party.

Pierre Aeby was actively involved in political and social organizations of Catholicism and promoted the development of the University of Freiburg.
