Maria Theresia Wilson (born November 28, 1980 in Regensburg as Maria Theresia Ludowika Klothilde Helene Alexandra Princess of Thurn and Taxis ) is a German forest and large landowner . The lands of her family, who came from the former German nobility, form one of the largest private estates in Europe. The family owns the largest privately owned forest in Europe.

Maria Theresia Wilson is the daughter of Johannes von Thurn und Taxis from the German noble family Thurn und Taxis and of Gloria von Thurn und Taxis , born. Countess of Schönburg-Glauchau . She has a younger sister Elisabeth and a younger brother Albert . Maria Theresia attended elementary school and a secondary school in Regensburg . She was sent to the Stowe School in England to obtain the university entrance qualification . From 2002 she studied sociology, psychology and communication in Madrid , from 2004 she studied communication and media studies in London with a focus on film and directing at the City and Guilds of London Art School.

With the death of her father in 1990, she inherited his private assets together with her siblings and the mother; Since then, they have been the largest private landowners in Germany with around 36,000 hectares and the largest forest owners in Europe with around 28,000 hectares . Today they own almost 20,000 hectares of forest in Germany, making them the largest private forest owner in Germany. In 2004, more than 5,000 hectares of forest area were sold to the Blauwald company by Adolf Merckle in order to diversify the family assets.

In 2001 Maria Theresia von Thurn und Taxis was awarded compensation by the Hamburg Higher Regional Court in the second instance by the Bauer publishing group , because they had told her about an impending wedding to Crown Prince Felipe of Spain in the Illustrierte Neue Post and supported this claim with a photo montage.

In August 2006, together with her mother and sister, she was accepted into the Marian Women 's Congregation Regensburg , which her mother had revived as a counterpart to the Marian Men's Congregation Regensburg . In June 2009 she was accepted into the Order of Knights of Malta together with her mother and sister .

On January 16, 2014, an advertisement in British newspapers announced the engagement of Maria Theresia von Thurn and Taxis to the British animal painter Hugo Wilson. The couple met while studying in London, where they still live today. Hugo Wilson, who previously belonged to the Church of England , converted specifically to Catholicism before the wedding ; the church wedding took place on September 13, 2014 in the Catholic Church at the town hall of Tutzing . Maria Theresia Wilson gave birth to a daughter named Mafalda on August 21, 2015. The younger daughter, Maya, was born on September 22, 2017.
