Paul Aeby

Paul Aeby (born November 13, 1841 in Windig , † July 18, 1898 in Onnens , entitled to live in Freiburg im Üechtland ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

Life

Aeby studied law in Freiburg and Bonn and obtained a license in 1863. He then worked as an intern in his father-in-law's office until 1867. Together with his cousin Hippolyte de Weck , he founded the Weck-Aeby bank in 1867 and also managed it.

In 1866 Aeby was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Friborg and had a seat there until 1898. From 1886 to 1895 he was City Mayor of Freiburg. In the years 1881 and 1883 to 1898 he was in the National Council .

Together with his brother-in-law Georges Python , he campaigned for the foundation of the University of Freiburg and for the construction of the Simplon line . As the originator, he also launched the so-called foray initiative , which, however, was rejected by the population. It stipulated that part of the customs revenue should go to the cantons .

He was a major in the Swiss Army .
