Course of the North Coast 500

The North Coast 500 (NC500 for short) is a 516 mi (830 km) long holiday route along the north coast of Scotland . It starts and ends at Inverness Castle . The North Coast 500 (NC500) was created through the North Highland Initiative .

The route runs through the historic counties of Inverness-shire , Ross and Cromarty , Sutherland and Caithness in the Council Area Highland .

The route runs clockwise from Inverness via Muir of Ord , Applecross , Gairloch , Ullapool , Durness , Thurso , John o 'Groats , Wick and Dunrobin Castle back to Muir of Ord and Inverness.

The Now Travel Magazine she was one of the "Top 5 Coastal Routes in the World". The Telegraph referred to it as "Scotland's Route 66 ".
