history

When Poland was first partitioned , Dzikowiec became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).

Nowy Dzikowiec was founded in 1783 during the Josephinian colonization on the grounds of the village of Dzikowiec. 48 German families of Catholic denomination were settled as colonists. The colony was called Wildenthal (a free translation of Dzikowiec , dziki = wild ). By the end of the 19th century, the descendants of the colonists were partially Polonized. In 1900 the community Wildenthal had 47 houses with 244 inhabitants, 124 of them were Polish-speaking, 120 German-speaking, 223 Roman Catholic, there were 12 Jews and 9 of other faiths.

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Wildenthal came to Poland.

In 1921 the community of Wildenthal had 50 houses with 228 inhabitants, of which 211 were Poles, 17 Germans, 225 Catholics and 3 Jews. The Polish state began to systematically change the German place names only in 1926.

During the Second World War it belonged to the Generalgouvernement .

From 1975 to 1998 Nowy Dzikowiec was part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship .
