Sainte-Agathe ( Occitan : Santa Agata ) is a French commune in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thiers and the Canton of Thiers . The municipality has 180 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

Location and traffic

Sainte-Agathe is about 41 kilometers east of Clermont-Ferrand on the edge of the Forez mountains to the west. Saint-Agathe is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Celles-sur-Durolle in the north, Viscomtat in the east, Vollore-Montagne in the southeast, Vollore-Ville in the south and Escoutoux in the west.

Sainte-Agathe is now part of the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park .
