La Monnerie-le-Montel is a French commune in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thiers and the canton of Thiers (until 2015: canton of Saint-Rémy-sur-Durolle ). The municipality has 1,722 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), who are called Monnerois .
Location and traffic
La Monnerie-le-Montel is about 41 kilometers east-northeast of Clermont-Ferrand on the Durolle . La Monnerie-le-Montel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Rémy-sur-Durolle in the north, Palladuc in the northeast, Celles-sur-Durolle in the south and east and Thiers in the west. The former route nationale 89 (today's D2089) runs through the municipality . The A89 autoroute runs along the northeastern edge .
La Monnerie-le-Montel is now part of the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park .
