Escoutoux ( Occitan : Escotons ) is a French commune in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thiers and the Canton of Thiers . The municipality has 1,348 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

Location and traffic

Escoutoux is about 37 kilometers east-northeast of Clermont-Ferrand . The Dore River limits the community on the edge of the Forez Mountains to the west. Escoutoux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Thiers in the north, Celles-sur-Durolle in the northeast, Sainte-Agathe in the east, Vollore-Ville in the southeast, Courpière in the south, Néronde-sur-Dore in the west and southwest and Peschadoires in the west.

Escoutoux is now part of the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park .
