Viscomtat is a French commune in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thiers and the canton of Thiers (until 2015: canton of Saint-Rémy-sur-Durolle ). The municipality has 530 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

Location and traffic

Viscomtat is about 46 kilometers east-northeast of Clermont-Ferrand on the edge of the Forez mountains . Viscomtat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Celles-sur-Durolle in the north and north-west, Chabreloche in the north-east, Noirétable in the east, Vollore-Montagne in the south and Sainte-Agathe in the west.

Viscomtat is now part of the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park .

history

In 1833 the municipality became independent from the neighboring municipality of Celles-sur-Durolle.
