Núria
Núria is a female given name adopted from Catalan , derived from Nostra Senyora de Núria ('Our Lady of Núria') or Mare de Déu de Núria ('Mother of God of Núria'), a figure of Mary in the sanctuary of the Pyrenees Valley Vall de Núria in the province of Girona . The name Núria is a very common female given name in Catalan. The Spanish spelling is Nuria .
The name has its origin in the Hebrew word נוּרְיָא (nuria) , which in turn goes back to the Aramaic נוּרָא (nura) and stands for “light” or “enlightenment (of God)”, like the Arabic نور (only) . The name means something like "the light-bearing one" and is therefore the equivalent of the Latin name Lucie .
According to the linguist Joan Coromines , there is also a connection to the old Basque - Aquitaine word norra , from which the name Andorra has its roots and means "place between valleys".
