Oben Scheine - Below stones is a German film from 1982.
action
El Potento, son from a wealthy family, meets Annabelle, a friend from the squatter scene. Through her and the later anarcho Klaus, he gets a glimpse of the political realities, by means of which he sees through the corrupt methods of his old man - an influential person in politics.
If he tries to lead El back into the upper class by marrying a certain Baroness von Dümmlershausen, his plan fails because of their inability and lack of sex appeal. When El is suspected of being a civilian at a demonstration by fleeing participants and gets caught between the fronts and is arrested as the main chaot, the political career trip of his old man tragically comes to an early end.
Reviews
“Similarly refreshing Hans-J. Koehler's top notes - bottom stones , the story of El Potento, who, torn between his parents' house and the squatter scene, finally marries his baroness von Dümmlershausen [...] The comedy, which is certainly not for everyone, results from the seriousness, with the Oben Scheine - Below stones […] young productions, as they should be represented in the Max Ophüls competition. Maybe amateurish, but definitely personal. "
“The gag of the festival was the film Oben Scheine - Below stones by young H.-J. Koehler [...] A wonderful film that takes nothing seriously: Neither the actors, nor the audience, nor the medium of film itself. A film that takes film to absurdity. Humorous people felt ripped off by so much dilettantism. "
background
This comedy film , created with the extras of the Schillertheater Berlin and some fellow actors, had its cinema premiere on January 24, 1982 in Saarbrücken as part of the competition for the Max Ophüls Prize '82 , a forum for young German-speaking directors. The film was also shown in various off-cinemas in Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalia , which is why it has only come close to reaching its middle-class target audience to this day. This debut film was received controversially. Rolf Giesen classified him as one of the “worst films of all time” alongside films by Alfred Hitchcock and Steven Spielberg .
