official coordinate

The Oberach is one of the two source rivers of the Rieder Bach , the city river of Ried im Innkreis ( Innviertel ), Upper Austria . But because it is only about 2½ kilometers long, it is generally referred to as a tributary of the Antiesen , of which it is the second largest tributary.

Run and landscape

The Oberach rises on the northern flank of the Guggenberg  ( 697  m above sea level ) in the municipality of Pramet , above the village of Altsommerau on the northern foothills of the Hausruck , at around 620  m above sea level. A. , near the border with the community of Frankenburg am Hausruck (Vöcklabruck district). It flows northwards, passes the towns of Pattigham and Neuhofen im Innkreis on the right , and joins after 18 km north of Ried's old town with the Breitsach (from Eberschwang ) at 427 m above sea level to the Rieder Bach, which after a short run north of Ried into the Antiesen flows out.

With 44 square kilometers the Oberach is after Osternach (neglects the Riedersbach) of the largest of the feeder Antiesen, and drains the core zone of the house jerk between Pattighamer Hochkuchl ( 656  m above sea level. A. ), Pramet and Schildorn . The Antiesen drains to the east and the Waldzeller Ache to the west .

The most important tributaries are the Kronawittbach on the left in the Schildorn municipality (7.3 km 2 ) and the Windischhuber Bach (5 km 2 ), which comes to the right of the Badesee parameter via Großpiesenham and Pramet. Other brooks are Hauptingbach , Ponneredter Bach (left) and the Baumbach (right) in the Neuhofen municipality.

The Frankenburger Landesstraße  (L 509) Vöcklamarkt –Ried follows the Oberach after the Hausruck crossing.

Hydrology and construction

The Oberach is only in the upper reaches, up to above Pramet, natural and meanders there. The rest is in a moderate to very poor condition, continuously regulated, 98 transverse structures are recorded (average free flow distance of 130 m), in the urban area of Ried it is massively built. In the middle reaches it is polluted by a lot of local, "partly apparently several decades old, but partly also fresh" rubble deposits, at Pramet it is also used as a "garbage and refuse dump". Nevertheless, both in the middle reaches and in the Ried area, several sections have good renaturation potential .

In addition, it is isolated from the biosystem of the Antiesen, which is in relatively good condition, by the dry lower Rieder Bach.
