Upper County (Bentheim)

The southern region of the Grafschaft Bentheim district in Lower Saxony is now known as the Upper County . earlier this also included large parts of the Nordhorn city area. The Upper County borders the Netherlands ( Overijssel ) in the west, the Emsland district in the east, and the Steinfurt and Borken districts in the south , both in North Rhine-Westphalia . Bad Bentheim was the seat of the Grafschaft Bentheim and until 1945 also the district town of the district. The traffic arteries are the A 31 , A 30 , B 403 , the state road 39, the railway lines of the Bentheimer Eisenbahn (north-south) and the Deutsche Bahn (west-east).
