Oberlethe is a district of the municipality of Wardenburg in the Oldenburg district in Lower Saxony .
geography
The place is about two and a half kilometers west of Wardenburg. The next larger city is Oldenburg . It is just under 100 kilometers to the North Sea .
history
The village was first mentioned in a document as "hostels". The name Oberlethe appears in the Wardenburg church registers by 1770 at the latest. The current name is derived from the phrase "over de Lethe to Herbergen" (via the Lethe to Herbergen, seen from Wardenburg). The place had about 530 inhabitants in 2001.
