Oberpolling is a part of the municipality of Fürstenstein in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau .

location

Oberpolling is located in the Abteiland about two kilometers southeast of Fürstenstein.

history

Oberpolling is considered the birthplace of the blessed Hartmann von Brixen , who is said to be born here around 1090 . It is not a real -ing place, as the 13th century spelling Obern Pollorn shows. When the Halser goods mass was destroyed, the goods at Obernpollern fell to Wilhelm Nusperger in 1455.

In 1752 the place belonged with five properties to the presidency of Ganharting in the Englfing office of the Vilshofen district court , while three properties belonged to the Hofmark Fürstenstein and one property to the Hofmarkherrschaft Schöllnach . With the formation of the communities in the 19th century, Oberpolling became part of the Fürstenstein community.

After the Second World War, the number of schoolchildren skyrocketed to around 200 children due to the settlement of numerous refugee families. In 1947 an emergency school was built and on December 18, 1950, Vicar General Franz Riemer and Pastor Georg Eder consecrated the new church. In 1958 the company Ernst Roederstein, Spezialfabrik für Capacitors GmbH, started production with ten people. In 1960 and 1961, the plant in Oberpolling was significantly expanded and sold to Vishay in 1993 . In 1987 Oberpolling had 732 inhabitants.
