Joseph Obinna Metu (born July 12, 1988 in Ogidi , Anambra ) is a Nigerian sprinter .

In 2007 he won bronze in the 200 m and gold in the 4 x 100 m relay at the Africa Games in Algiers . At the World Athletics Championships in Osaka , he did not finish with the Nigerian team in the final of the 4 x 100 meter relay.

At the Olympic Games 2008 he reached the quarter-finals over 100 m and 200 m and was eliminated in the 4 x 100 meter relay competition with the Nigerian team in the preliminary run.

In 2009 he reached the quarter-finals again at the World Cup in Berlin over 100 m . At the 2010 African Athletics Championships in Nairobi, he was seventh over 100 m, fifth over 200 m and won silver with the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay. In 2011 he won bronze over 100 m at the Africa Games in Maputo .

In 2012 he finished fifth over 100 m at the African Championships in Porto-Novo and again took silver in the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay. At the Olympic Games in London , he did not get beyond 100 m over the run.

In 2014 he failed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow over 200 m in the preliminary run and came in sixth place with the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay. At the African Athletics Championships in Marrakech he won with the Nigerian relay, and at the Athletics Continental Cup in Marrakech he came third with the African 4 x 100 meter relay.

At the 2015 African Games in Brazzaville, he finished fifth over 200 m.
