The Oceandiva Futura ( proper spelling : OCEANDIVA Futura ) is an event ship built in 1997 by Futura Registergoederen BV in Amsterdam , whose outer shape and equipment was modeled on the spaceship Enterprise . The ship was in use from 1998 to February 2003 under the names RPR Eins Enterprise and Enterprise at the Cologne-Düsseldorf Deutsche Rheinschiffahrt .

history

The RPR Eins Enterprise at the Bacharach pier (1999)
The Enterprise at the Cologne pier (2007)

Based on an idea by the married couple Anja and Thomas Schüller, the owners of the Schüller passenger shipping company in Koblenz , the Galle planning office from Sinzig designed a ship in 1994 under the project name Rhein-Mosel-Future Enterprise , which was supposed to look like the spaceship Enterprise. The hull shape was patented on July 24, 1994. After the financing of the 6,000,000 DM expensive new ship building through sponsorship contracts ( Deutsche Lufthansa , Königsbacher , SAT 1 , RPR1 , City of Koblenz and others) and the calculated fare income seemed secured, the Schiffs-Service Oberwinter ( SSO ) received the on September 16, 1996 Order to build the ship. The keel was laid on October 29, 1996. After the ship was completed on May 14, 1997, the inspection trip took place the next day, and at the same time the ship was registered with the official ship number 4307300 in Koblenz. Just one day later, the ship went on a special trip with a tour group of 350 passengers from Oberwinter to Cologne . On May 24th, Gunhild Schulte-Wissermann, the wife of Koblenz's Lord Mayor Eberhard Schulte-Wissermann , christened the ship at the Deutsches Eck with the name RPR Eins Enterprise . The next day special trips were carried out with the star guest William Shatner , who played the role of Captain Kirk in the television series Starship Enterprise . The ship took over the first planned trips on the route from Koblenz to St. Goar and back from June 1, 1997. After a short time it became clear that the ship was not being accepted by the population due to its futuristic appearance and higher fares than the competition so that most journeys had to be canceled due to insufficient utilization. On December 11, 1997, the Schüller passenger shipping company had to file for bankruptcy. The fiduciary custody was taken over by the Koblenz sequester Albert Liesser, who handed over the property on December 23, 1997 to the shipyard, which was the main creditor.

Since the Cologne-Düsseldorfer needed a ship for the passenger ship Drachenfels that had moved to the Moselle , which took over the previous route Bonn - Neuwied - Bonn , they signed a charter contract with the SSO on April 30, 1998 for five years, with an extension option for the same duration . One day later, the RPR Eins Enterprise took over the liner service. From November 1998, the Event Center Lauenstein and the Cologne-Düsseldorfer hosted carnival parties and events during the Advent season on the ship. Although this new concept was successful, the two contracting parties argued over the Voyage Charter in 2002 , so that the contractual relationship was terminated without notice. Both sides intend to continue the events independently in the future. After the sponsorship contract with RPR Eins had expired, the ship operated under the name Enterprise from 2002 . The Köln-Düsseldorfer decided in November 2002 to build a new ship, which was to take over the Enterprise's event trips in addition to the scheduled trips . No use was made of the option to extend the charter contract. In January and February 2003, the Lauenstein Event Center chartered the Enterprise to host the events that had previously been carried out with the KD . Since Lauenstein only received approval for the Enterprise to moor on the barely populated right bank of the Cologne Rhine at the level of the Rheinhallen and the Cologne-Düsseldorfer offered similar events for one euro each time, these trips were not economical to carry out, so that no repetition for the next year more was planned. From March 2003 the Enterprise was only used for individual rentals and was mostly in Oberwinter without an order. Eventually the ship was sold to the Dutch Seegers family in 2006. The new owners converted the Enterprise into a pure exhibition and event ship - the conversion costs were around 400,000 euros. In 2008 Advance Business Events in Rotterdam took over the ship, repainted it and renamed it OCEANDIVA Futura . Futura Registergoederen BV in Amsterdam has been the owner of the ship since 2009 . In addition to the Ocean Diva Original, this is mainly used in the Netherlands and on the Lower Rhine as a party ship.
