Ochotnica Dolna is a village in the powiat Nowotarski of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the rural community of the same name with a little more than 8,500 inhabitants.
geography
The place is on the brook Ochotnica in the Gorcen . With Ochotnica Górna it extends over a length of 38 km.
history
In 1413 the village of Ochodnicza was first mentioned. The name is derived from the local brook, mentioned earlier as Ochodnik . The founding privilege was granted in 1416 by King Władysław II Jagiełło . The first mayor was Dawid Wołoch. Presumably, two settlements operated in parallel: Polish and Wallachian (or Russian , later assimilated).
During the first partition of Poland in 1772 the village became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).
In the year the first parish was established in the village and in 1910 the second. Shortly thereafter, the village was officially divided into two parts: Ochotnica Dolna and Ochotnica Górna.
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Ochotnica Dolna came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . In November there was a battle between German troops, the Polish Home Army and Soviet partisans. In December 1944, around 50 farms were destroyed in revenge for the killing of an SS officer by Soviet partisans; 56 people were killed.
From 1975 to 1998 Ochotnica Dolna was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
