Odontites lanceolatus is a semi-parasitic plant species from the genus of the tooth rust ( Odontites ). The main distribution area of the species is in the western Alps and in Spain.
description
Odontites lanceolatus is an annual plant that grows to a height of 10 to 110 cm . Individuals of the subspecies Odontites lanceolatus subsp. provincialis can rarely grow as perennials that are up to four years old . The stem is woody at the base and is up to 6 mm thick. It is densely hairy with downwardly curved trichomes that reach a length of 0.1 to 0.5 mm (rarely up to 0.8) mm. The vegetative part of the plant is well developed and consists of more than ten nodes , from which shoots of enrichment emanate at an angle of 35 to 50 °.
The leaves fall off early, lanceolate in shape and have a serrated edge. They become 15 to 50 mm long and 2 to 10 mm wide, with differences between the subspecies.
The inflorescences consist of 20 to 40 flowers that bloom from bottom to top. The flowers are accompanied by bracts , which are hairy on both sides and whose edge is usually serrated. The flowers are protogynous (female) and are 7 to 11 mm long. At the beginning of the flowering period, the calyx is 3.5 to 6 mm long. The hair on the calyx consists of simple trichomes up to 0.9 mm long and up to 0.35 mm stalk glands. The calyx lobes are triangular. The crown consists of a 3.9 to 4.7 mm long coronet tube, which is followed by a 4 to 5 mm long helmet and a lower lip. The four stamens are in two pairs, each of which is of different length: the upper pair reaches lengths of 3.4 to 4.2 mm, the lower pair is 4 to 4.8 mm long. The stamens protrude far from the corolla tube and strive apart. The dust bags are rotated 180 ° so that the front pointed end is directed forward. The counters are only about half open, except for a few, up to 0.2 mm long, club-shaped hairs on the connective that are hairless. The pollen grains reach a length of about 18.3 × 23.2 µm.
The fruit is a capsule that reaches a length of 4 to 6.5 mm (rarely up to 8 mm).
Both subspecies have the chromosome number 2n = 20.
distribution
The kind comes with the subspecies subsp. lanceolatus and subsp. provincialis in the valleys of the Western Alps , in the Mediterranean Alps of France and Italy and in Savoy . It grows at altitudes between 210 and 2000 m. The subspecies olotensis occurs in Spain.
Systematics
Odontites lanceolatus , together with the yellow tooth rust ( Odontites luteus ) and Odontites hispidulus, belongs to the species group Odontites luteus agg. posed. The following subspecies are distinguished within the species:
- Odontites lanceolatus subsp. lanceolatus
- Odontites lanceolatus subsp. provincialis Bolliger
- Odontites lanceolatus subsp. olotensis (Cadevall) O. Bolòs & Vigo : It occurs in Spain.
Of the subspecies Odontites lanceolatus subsp. lanceolatus is an early flowering as well as a late flowering breed known, the subspecies Odontites lanceolatus subsp. provincialis is exclusively late flowering.
