Oeningen is a district of the city of Soltau in the Heidekreis district in Lower Saxony . The village has about 160 inhabitants.

Oeningen is located in the Lüneburg Heath east of Soltau. The A 7 and the district road 9 run through Oeningen .
history
In the 17th century the village of Oeningen consisted of five farms. A sixth farm was added in the 1920s. Four of the courtyards burned down in April 1945 as a result of the war. After the end of the Second World War , the farmers rebuilt their farms, and some farm workers' families and refugees came to the village.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the three communities Oeningen, Harber and Moide formed a school association. Until the incorporation, the students were taught in the Harber school house.
The Scandinavia campsite opened in the mid-1960s and is now the largest in the city of Soltau.
On March 1, 1974, Oeningen was incorporated into the city of Soltau.

The Wacholderpark recreation and heather area is located in Oeningen .

Economy and Infrastructure
Today three farms are still active in the village. Dairy farming in particular is widespread. Part of the Soltau-Ost industrial park north of Bundesstraße 71 is also located in Oeningen. Gravel and sand are extracted outside the village.
