history

Ofurac was developed by Chevron and launched in 1992. Bayer CropScience holds the rights today .

Extraction and presentation

Ofurac can be obtained by reacting chloroacetic acid chloride with 2,6-dimethylaniline and 3-chloro-γ-butyrolactone .

use

Ofurac has a systemic, protective and curative effect. The active ingredient inhibits the synthesis of ribosomal RNA . It is often used along with other fungicides to control oomycetes .
