The Ohrnknott (also: Orenknott or Ohrenknott ) is a 2258 m slm high summit in South Tyrol , Italy .
location
The Ohrnknott is located northwest of Merano above the town of Rabland in the Texel Group , a mountain group of the Ötztal Alps . To the south, the Ohrnknott , which is under protection in the Texel Group Nature Park , drops steeply to the Val Venosta, some 1,700 meters below, with the villages of Naturns and Rabland. The summit, actually a little independent elevation in the southeast ridge of the Zielspitze ( 3006 m ), is a striking vantage point and bears a triple cross, which is clearly visible from the valley, but is not exactly at the highest point. Every year on Sacred Heart Sunday traditional fires are lit on the summit.
ways
The ascent can be done via several routes. A path leads from the mountain station of the Texelbahn ( 1544 m ) first following the path to the top of the target . Another approach is from the Hochforch snack station ( 1555 m ) on the Meraner Höhenweg via the Orenalm. Both ways are not difficult. With the right equipment, weather and experience, you can reach the summit in around two hours.
