Ohrwege is part of the Bad Zwischenahn community in the Ammerland district in Lower Saxony . For the same peasantry include not only Ohrwege itself nor Querenstede , Altenkamp and ear Weger field .

history

The exact origin of the name Ohrwege is not clear. It is assumed that the name Orwede, first mentioned in the fiefdoms of the Counts of Oldenburg around 1270 , can be traced back to an old field name .

The connection to the Zwischenahn peasantry was formed by a raised road, a camp . This is where Altenkamp is located , where new building areas have been designated, especially in recent years, and which has grown significantly as a result. Another name for an elevated street is the Low German word Diek , which is best translated as dike . On the second Diekweg road leading away from Altenkamp in the direction of Zwischenahn, the "New Cemetery" has been located since 1929.

Ohrwegerfeld borders on Ohrwege to the north and forms a sparsely populated former moor area . The Kienmoor , which has been preserved as a closed coniferous forest area , takes up a large part .

Originally part of the Ekern farming community , Querenstede is now part of the administrative area of Ohrwege . It goes back to the beginning of the 14th century and offers mill lovers one of the well-preserved windmills of the Ammerland, which is run by the Querensteder-Mühlenverein e. V. is kept intact.

Former school earways

With a decree of November 11, 1900, the division of the Burgfelde / Ohrwege school night was decided. This decision was preceded by numerous applications (1825, 1834, 1864), on which no decision was reached. At that time the floodplain was arbitrarily set as the dividing line. The newly built school building was completed in 1902. Until 1953 the school was operated in two classes, the establishment of a third class became possible after an expansion. In 1971 the school was closed and the primary school students have attended the school in Rostrup ever since .
