Aschhausen is a district of the municipality of Bad Zwischenahn in the Lower Saxony district of Ammerland and is located on the east bank of the Zwischenahner Meer . In addition to Aschhausen itself, the peasantry consists of the villages of Aschhauserfeld , Halfstede , Haarenstroth and Aue . Today's core of the village is in Aschhauserfeld, which was more settled in the 19th century than Aschhausen itself.

Aschhausen has been mentioned in a document since 1249 under the name Aschehusen (mention of an "Oteke to Aschehusen", historical document in the possession of the descendant family Otteken in Aschhausen). The name is derived from the word Esch . Urn finds show that the first settlement of this area took place as early as the 7th century BC. These early settlements were, however, in the 5th – 6th centuries. Abandoned in the 19th century, presumably due to climate changes. From the 8th century onwards, Esch settlements emerged. H. farms were laid out in front of the ash trees that were used for farming.

The village was created around 1305 when the Tiden farm was mentioned in the monastery property register as the property of the Rastede monastery. The large wastelands belonging to Aue were cultivated in 1895 by steam deep plows .
