Okamoto Ren'ichirō ( Jap. 岡本連一郎 * 21st January 1878 in Wakayama Prefecture ; † 23. February 1934 ) was a Japanese lieutenant general of the Imperial Japanese Army , the deputy from 1929 to 1930 Chief of the General Staff of the Imperial Japanese Army was .

Life

Okamoto Ren'ichirō completed an officer training at the Army Officer School (Rikugun Shikan Gakkō) , which he completed in November 1897. He then became a lieutenant in the 27th Infantry Regiment in June 1898 and finished his training as a staff officer at the Army College (Rikugun Daigakkō) in December 1909 . He then became company commander in the 61st Infantry Regiment and then an employee in the Military Secretariat of the Army Ministry (Rikugun-shō) before he was an officer in the 65th Infantry Regiment. After serving in the military attaché staff at the legation in the United Kingdom and in the United States , he was commander of a battalion of the 23rd Infantry Regiment and an instructor at the Army Infantry School.

After his promotion to colonel on October 3, 1918, Okamoto Renichirō was an instructor at the Army University and was assigned to this from April 15, 1919 to August 10, 1920 as an officer. He then acted between August 10, 1920 and February 8, 1922 as head of Section 10 (Foreign Military History) of Department 4 of the General Staff and then from February 8, 1922 to May 1, 1925 as a military attaché at the embassy in the USA. During this time he was promoted to major general on August 6, 1923 and was then Chief of Staff of the 9th Division from May 1, 1925 to January 19, 1927, before becoming chief between January 19, 1927 and August 1, 1929 the General Affairs Department of the General Staff.

Okamoto Renichirō was promoted to Lieutenant General on March 8, 1928 during this time and replaced Lieutenant General Minami Jirō as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Imperial Japanese Army on August 1, 1929 and held this post until December 22, 1930, whereupon Lieutenant General Ninomiya Osamu was his successor started. His last position was between December 22, 1930 and February 28, 1932, commander of the Imperial Guard (Konoe shidan) . After being in reserve from February 28 to March 19, 1932, he was retired on March 19, 1932.
