The Ola ( Russian О́ла ) is a 166 km long tributary of the Sea of Okhotsk in the Magadan Oblast in the Far East of Russia .
River course
The Ola rises on the Ola plateau , 30 km southwest of the settlement Atka . From there it initially flows 70 km in a south-southeast direction. At river kilometer 125 the trunk road R504 , the so-called Kolymatrasse , crosses the river. For the lower 90 km, the Ola turns towards the south-southwest. The settlement Kljopka (Клёпка) is located at river kilometer 34 on the right bank of the river. The Lankowaja flows into the Ola at river kilometer 22 when coming from the east. This then turns 5 km to the west before swiveling to the south. The Ola finally flows into the Taui Bay on the north coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. The estuary is 26 km east of the oblast capital Magadan . On the left bank of the Ola immediately above the mouth is Ola , an urban-type settlement . A road bridge also crosses the river there. The Ola is intertwined almost along its entire length of the river , that is, it flows in a wide gravel-filled river bed and forms several river channels.
Hydrology
The catchment area of the Ola covers an area of 8570 km². The river is usually ice-covered between late October and mid-May.
