Olaf Hytten

Olaf Hytten ( March 3, 1888 in Glasgow , Scotland - March 11, 1955 in Los Angeles , California , USA ) was a Scottish theater and film actor.

Life

Olaf Hytten left the English theater stage in 1921 to take part in Hollywood films. On Broadway in 1924 he had a role in the play Whitewashed . With his hamster-like facial features and his high-pitched voice, Hytten played in over 300 film and television productions until 1955. Among his films numerous classics such as are Casablanca , The Adventures of Robin Hood , to be or not , and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington . He also starred in many of the Sherlock Holmes films with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce . In most of these films, however, he only took on minor supporting roles and rarely got credit in the credits. He was committed to roles of British butler , officer or aristocrat. Towards the end of his career, Hytten also starred in several US television series.

Olaf Hytten died in his car in the parking lot of 20th Century Fox Studios at the age of 67 when he suffered a heart attack.
