Oleksij Kovalchuk ( Ukrainian Олексій Ковальчук ; English transcription Oleksii Kovalchuk ; born September 18, 1989 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a professional Ukrainian poker player . He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Poker career

Career

Kovalchuk has been participating in renowned live tournaments since 2011 .

Kovalchuk won the main event of the Russian Poker Tour in his native Kiev in early February 2011 and received the grand prize of more than $ 120,000 . In June 2011 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came in the money in three tournaments. He won an event the variant No-Limit Hold'em and secured a prize money of nearly $ 700,000 and a bracelet . At the main event of the Italian Poker Tour (IPT) in Nova Gorica at the beginning of September 2011, Kovalchuk also prevailed as the winner, which brought him 150,000 euros .
