Oliver is a village in Douglas County in the northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Wisconsin . In 2000 Oliver had 358 inhabitants.

Oliver is situated on the Saint Louis River , a few kilometers before its confluence with the Lake Superior ( Lake Superior ). The river and its estuary form the border with Minnesota .

The Wisconsin Highway 105 runs through Oliver . A railway line also crosses the town. Both cross the Saint Louis River to Minnesota over the two-story Oliver Bridge .

The nearest cities are Superior (8.2 miles northeast) and Duluth , Minnesota (13.4 miles across the river, also northeast).

The closest major cities are the Twin Cities ( Minneapolis and Saint Paul ), 224 km to the south-southwest , Thunder Bay in Canada 328 km to the northeast , Green Bay (511 km to the southeast) and Fargo in North Dakota (395 km in a westerly direction).

In the 2000 census, the population was 358. These were distributed to 127 households in 105 families. The population density was 68.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. There were 125 residential buildings, which corresponded to a building density of 23.8 buildings per square kilometer.
