The city is located in northwestern Wisconsin on the southwestern shore of Lake Superior , the largest of the five Great Lakes in North America. In Superior, the Saint Louis River and the Nemadji River flow into the Upper Lake.
The geographical coordinates of Superior are 46 ° 43'09 "north latitude and 92 ° 06'10" west longitude. The city extends over an area of 143.6 km², which is spread over 95.7 km² of land and 47.9 km² of water.
