The Duluth International Airport ( IATA : DLH , ICAO : kdlh ) is the airport of the city of Duluth on Lake Superior in St. Louis County in the northeast of the US -amerikanischen state of Minnesota . Duluth International Airport is the main air traffic hub in the Twin Ports metropolitan area of Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin .

The airport, which is always open, is operated by the city of Duluth through the Duluth Airport Authority .

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) classifies the airport, which is part of the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems, as a primary commercial service airport based on the number of 147,793 departing passengers .

A base for the Minnesota Air National Guard is located on the airport premises .

The airport is connected to the city center and the port of Duluth, 9.8 km to the southeast, via Airport Road and Rice Lake Road. US Highway 53 runs not far from the airport and runs from Duluth to the Canadian border at International Falls .

Furnishing

The airport has two runways, each with a concrete and an asphalt surface. There is a passenger terminal with passenger boarding bridges and a baggage handling system with two output points. The rental car companies Alamo , Avis , Budget , Enterprise , Hertz , and National have bases in the reception building.

Airplanes and aircraft movements

A total of 86 aircraft are stationed at the airport. 49 of these are single-engine and 10 multi-engine propeller planes, three jet jets and three helicopters. The Air National Guard has 21 aircraft at its base.

Of the 162 flight movements per day, 69 percent can be assigned to general aviation and 17 percent to air taxi traffic. Scheduled flights make up one percent. There are also around 14 percent military aircraft movements.
