Oliver Grundei

Oliver Grundei (born October 19, 1970 in Hanover ) is a German legal scholar and political official ( CDU ). Since June 28, 2017, he has been State Secretary for Science and Culture in the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein .

Life

education and profession

After completing his Abitur at the Städtisches Gymnasium Leichlingen (Rhineland) (1990) and the subsequent community service at the Clinic for Cardiovascular Diseases Roderbirken , Grundei began studying law in 1991 . He completed this at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen . This was followed by a legal clerkship (1997–1999) at the Hechingen Regional Court and then an activity as a lawyer (2000–2001), before the legal scholar became a managing research assistant at the Lorenz von Stein Institute for Administrative Sciences at Kiel Christian Albrechts University in 2001 . Grundei worked there until 2005, after which he moved to the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart , where he was elected Chancellor . In 2007 he was elected Chancellor of the University of Lübeck , and in 2013 he was re-elected to this office. He held it until his appointment as State Secretary in 2017.

Political activity

The legal scholar joined the Christian Democratic Union of Germany in 2010. In the course of the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein in 2017 , he was initially designated as Minister of Science in the shadow cabinet of the CDU top candidate Daniel Günther . In the course of the formation of the Günther cabinet , he was finally appointed State Secretary for Science and Culture in the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein by Minister Karin Prien on June 28, 2017 .

Private

Grundei is married and has two children.
