Oliver Wimmer (born April 14, 1991 in Vienna ) is an Austrian pop singer who became known for winning the fourth season of Starmania .
Life
Oliver Wimmer spent the early childhood years of his life in his native Vienna. After his parents got divorced, he moved to Neufeld an der Leitha in Burgenland .
Oliver Wimmer gained his first stage experience with the pop-punk band Sunday Monday Tuesday and as a solo artist. In 2008 he participated as a student at the ORF - Casting for singing show Starmania part and came on the short list. Finally he made it to the grand finale, which took place on January 30, 2009. There he was able to prevail against the Lower Austrian Silvia Strasser and thus win the fourth Starmania season. In the decisive final duel against Strasser Wimmer sang the rock song "Blown Away" written for him, which was released on February 6, 2009 as a single. With this song Oliver achieved a hall vote of 9.8, the highest in the history of Starmania. From February 27, Wimmer appeared on the Starmania tour. Wimmer was signed by DEAG Music after his win at Starmania .
In 2009 he was in a relationship with ex-Starmania participant Milena Sickinger.
In 2009, Oliver took part in the show “ The Race ” on ORF. Together with the other participants, the CD “Herrlich” was recorded and released under the band name “DownHillRacers”.
In autumn 2010 Wimmer was nominated for the Austrian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 and was shortlisted among the top 10. But then Nadine Beiler won the race.
Since autumn 2011 he has been studying pop music design at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg .
In autumn 2015 he was the lead singer of the German band AudioDamn! the single lights out! on the market. The famous "Billboard" magazine counted the band among the hits of tomorrow ( Tomorrow's Hits ).
