features

View of the lamellae of two fruiting bodies of the olive-yellow wood knight

The olive-yellow wood knight forms 3–10 cm wide and up to 10 cm high fruiting bodies divided into a hat and handle . The surface of the hat is covered with concentrically arranged olive-greenish to black-brown scales on a golden yellow ground, the middle of the hat appears darker due to the more densely arranged scales. The finely fibrous brim of the hat is bent down for a long time. The golden yellow, narrow lamellae have a smooth cutting edge and are bulged onto the handle. The sulfur-yellow, longitudinally fibrous stalk is about 0.6-1 cm thick with a length of 3–7 cm, it can be eccentric or curved, at the tip it is covered with brownish flakes. The flesh is yellow and tastes mild to slightly bitter.
